In 2015, when Kevin Chenault launched Blackstrap Media, the traditional advertising landscape was already a crowded space. However, Kevin—a new entrepreneur with roots in visual storytelling and a passion for bold ideas—saw an opportunity to leverage social media platforms for creative advertising by focusing on what works natively within those platforms. “The best ads don’t look like ads,” and this philosophy has guided our approach since day one.
In 2025, Blackstrap Media rebranded as kei, a digital advertising company with a more focused approach to the evolving digital advertising landscape. The name “kei” (pronounced 🔑), with its unique spelling of a common yet empowering word, reflects our commitment to embracing bold, non-traditional ideas to address evolving challenges.
